Found this whilst archiving, the last sketch of perhaps 8 that I drew for the painting using photoshop brushes for clouds and dropping in paper and rust textures as a backgroundDidn't end up including the light shards - in the end it was surplus to the pieceHer face here is far too childlike that's why I struggled on the first day, finally got the more womanly aesthetic on day two

MIMCO, COVENT GARDEN BOUTIQUE PAINTING

Work now completed for Mimco
(Australian accessories and shoes company), for their boutique in Covent Garden.

Optimism of completion in a week was shortsighted, I've been working on it for over a month.
It's been almost a year since painting in this style and I wanted to exercise clear developments. It was also slow as I really couldn't look at it for a few days at a time. I'd also find the need to change colours, background styles and line work, killing days worth of work in a search for different nuances and atmosphere.

I can go through a project really hating it until just before the finish line. It's a real struggle at times and it can really dictate my mood throughout that period.

I feel more than satisfied that it's over. I've developed my painting in a way that it looks separate to anything produced so far. Now to plan the installation, brush down of the studio and on to the next project.

i've been putting together a visual proposal for a mural job this month. I'm still waiting to hear back, so fingers crossed. Here is a little sketch within the client's theme.

It is more than inspired by photographer Katja Faith, a very talented and exciting Russian artist. So other than drawing and digitizing I don't want to take any credit for this.

I'll be revisiting Alice AGAIN for my next project which will be my first client led project in ooooh about 6 months. so expect something a little bit different.

Great little mention in the Sunday Times Style supplement today with a picture of one of the murals painted for Meg Mathews earlier this year

It's a shame, if not more annoying than anything to be wrongfully labeled as a graffiti artist.

so i managed it. a digital style collage on paper - a complete original. boy, it was difficult and took some time. i had to plan it all out on photoshop, then figure out which layer of what material to use and in which order. thinking masking fluid not to be applied over ink but then the ink needing to sit under the watercolour fills. I'm pleased it's all over.

After another successful venture to Barcelona earlier this year, I am taking a further jaunt in the aid of large-scaled live scrawlings next week, this time to Italy... For the Milan Design Week. nice.

it's got to be said... i'm pretty petrified. I haven't done anything significantly large or live since the last project with DB for Selfridges London. And that all the way back in October!!! That's so long ago..... and that came with some hairy moments.

So not only am i battling again, after a huge break, but it looks like I'll be entering another 16 to 1 quick-fire intensive battle with Secret Wars. Which normally means: 15 opponents 20ft x 8 over perhaps 2 - 3 hours. This could entail me competing against not only my friend Reeps 1 - again, but the reigning champion, mulit-talented Hicks54 who also happens to be my boyfriend! Eeeeeeeek!

Let the games begin....
